Lewis County is not only home to Giant Windmills, but now the Largest Dairy Cow in New York State resides in Lewis County at the Lowville Cheese Store on Utica Blvd. (Rt. 12)
With the dairy industry having the counties largest economic contribution, our board of directors has been searching for a way to promote dairy. When we came across this idea was an instant no brainier.
The Giant cow measures 10' 6" high, 15' long and 5' wide.She is big and will get noticed!!
We want people and stop and take their picture with it.
Rumour has is that she is distantly related to Fluffy the pet alligator at Lehman's Farm Supply in Denmark.
When we needed a name, we held a contest. Nearly 350 suggestion were submitted in the "Name New York's Largest Cow Contest" at the Lowville Producers Dairy Cooperative.
The Board of Directors were looking for something different than the traditional cow names like Elsie or Bessie and were looking for a name that personified not only Lewis County but Northern New York's Dairy Industry.
